Educational Resources Introduction

Screen-Shot-2019-03-07-at-11_edited.jpg

Bound by Clay Education Pack.

The material within this website is an educational resource relevant for Schools, Colleges, HEIs and Adult Learning. In addition, it will be of interest to anyone wanting to connect with and explore local heritage. In line with the aims of the Bound by Clay project funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, this resource could support learning and teaching in a wide range of subject areas.

The material will be a resource to support learning and teaching relating to the current curriculum in schools and we anticipate it will be a source of inspiration and information about opportunities for future education and employment. We have created a brief guide for schools to support the use of the material within the Bound by Clay film with Key Stages 1, 2 and 3. We have arranged the guide into subject and age appropriate ideas.

In relation to Higher Education, we have produced a list of some of the key themes within the material and references for further reading and research. Here, the use of the material will have relevance as a teaching and learning resource for study and research in subjects as diverse as ceramics, history, art, economics, geography, health, sociology and law. There is relevance for students studying Higher Education programmes for regulated professions such as Social Work, Nursing, Teaching and Medicine.

Adult Education will find useful material relating to heritage, literacy, numeracy, careers, social history and art. Community Interest Companies, community researchers and local historians may be interested in the use of lived experience, the impact of women’s voices and this addition to the record and legacy of creative and skilled, working class people.
